FYI: My dad just requested me to cap off the attendees at the current number. It’s at 15 people plus 5 for one night. They’re getting worried that we really won’t have enough room and a few other concerns that I won’t go into. If you do not intend on going to Grannyyycon, let me know ASAP so the spot can be freed up. The last day to RSVP to my house is June 10th. I’m sorry guys that I have to change the number of attendees, it wasn’t my choice. If this is a problem, please talk to me privately. At this point, I haven’t heard about anyone else thinking about coming to my house who isn’t on the RSVP list, if this is not the case talk to me (Genevieve) privately.
Also, I’m going to need everyone to give me their emails so I can send out information (like my home address, some basic guidelines, etc). There’s some things that I want to tell everyone but I don’t want to broadcast it over tumblr. Plus not everyone sees tumblr right away. Additionally, I’d appreciate it if everyone gave me their phone number and trip itinerary once you guys have it.
Thanks,
Genevieve
I have you guys listed for arriving the 25 and leaving the 26. Let me know if these dates have changed. : )
The last day to RSVP for GrannyyyCon is June 10th. :) That is just two weeks before GrannyyyCon.
As most of you (if not all) know right after GrannyyyCon we will be taking the Amtrak train on Wednesday the 27th from the Goleta station (located approx. 5 minutes away from Genevieve’s house) to Anaheim. Genevieve was nice enough to add details for the train ride in the FAQ.
“We’re going to take the 1:50PM train (784 Pacific Surfliner) from the Goleta station and it arrives in Anaheim at 5:48, a 3hour and 58 min train ride. According to their website it’s $34 (but I don’t know if the price goes up closer to the date).”
I just bought my ticket for $27.20 after I found this promo provided here http://santabarbaracarfree.org/traindiscount.htm
The only catch is they want to send you special offers and such via email occasionally. I just decided to use my junk email.
You want to sign up to get the discount before you select your train ticket. Once you are signed up, you will be redirected to the Amtrak website. You will then add of the train information and the promo will automatically deduct 20% from your total. So, its a nice little discount for those of us trying to save a few bucks.
Even if you do not decide to use the promo code, I highly advise everyone to buy their tickets as soon as possible. Like with all modes of transportation, space is limited so be wise and don’t procrastinate. Also, as Genevieve pointed out, sometimes the prices go up the closer the date is.
Can’t wait to see you all next month!
-Kimber
VidCon is next month and there is still room for 5 more people to RSVP to GrannyyyCon. If you are going, be sure to check to see if your name is on the RSVP list. If it is not, be sure to let either Kimber or Genevieve know as soon as you can! :)
We actually aren’t doing the charter bus anymore. We are going to to take an Amtrak train from Santa Barbara to Anahiem. I am going to update that much in a bit. We will not be going back to Santa Barbara. So you may want to buy two one way tickets. :)
I just added an RSVP list to this tumblr. It is necessary that you reserve your spot in the Nursing Home as soon as possible. Genevieve can only have 20 people staying with her during Grannyyycon, so in order to ensure it is first come first serve I created the RSVP. Details are located on that page.
Some people still don’t know of the plans that are being made in regards to rooming, Disneyland, and the Santa Barbara trip. So be sure to pass along this tumblr to fellow GRANNYYY members, please!
I thought of a road trip sort of thing before, but we would have to pool in money quickly before people decide they need to purchase their plane tickets. If anybody else is interested let me know!
The answers are in the FAQ :)
